ABB showcases complete power solutions for the smart grid at the 9th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology

Shanghai, October 31, 2013 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, will showcase its intelligent and reliable power products and solutions at the 9th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology, the largest power and electrical exhibition in China.

At the exhibition, ABB is displaying its leading power solutions, offering support for the construction and operation of China’s smart grid. The intelligent power solutions are applicable to the whole utility chain, including power generation, transmission, distribution, the integration of renewables, HVDC transmission, distributed power generation, smart substations and E-mobility. In addition, Cloud Services from ABB are the highlights of the service business, supplying real-time monitoring of smart grid products and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the power grid.

Cloud Services relies on a remote service center to provide faster response times and more service options to ABB’s Chinese customers. The center takes advantage of mobile Internet technology to implement a remote communication visualization platform for customers. In addition to site safety permit applications and general customer service calls, the center also offers remote technical support and smart switch online monitoring and troubleshooting. The remote customer service center can cover any project site in mainland China and support all of its ABB site service engineers. The center can check the conditions in the field through remote video to ensure the safety of its service engineers.

The expert support team can rapidly analyze field faults and provide reliable and cost-efficient solutions to customers. For example, ABB iVD4 switchgear can be monitored online and real-time condition-based maintenance can be performed, including early warning and notice. When a customer’s equipment exhibits performance irregularities, the center receives an immediate alarm and ABB service experts analyze the fault and notify the ABB service station nearest to the customer site.

Gavin Liu, Head of Power Systems Division, ABB North Asia & China, said, “The stable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable smart grid from ABB has been successfully demonstrated worldwide. We believe that ABB’s power products and solutions, with their leading technology and high quality, can help in the construction of a strong and smart grid.”

Organized by China Electricity Council, the 9th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology (EP Shanghai) is recognized as the largest electric power and electrical exhibition in China and will bring together 1,000 leading suppliers from more than 20 countries/regions at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre.
